We all look forward to that time off, the Vacay. You’ve saved for it and you’re ready for you adventure in Machu Pichu. You and your family are packed and ready to go on your dream vacation. First, you stay in Lima to discover the Capital with it’s museums filled with ancient relics from the Incan Civilization but, you get very sick and have to be hospitalized! What do you do? You want the best medical care right? You get admitted to the ICU at the best hospital but, they tell you that your medication is expensive and they won’t take your medical insurance from home because, they tend not to pay a hospital hundreds of miles away for the medical care they’ve provided! NOW what do you do?
You’re frantically making phone calls to your insurance provider who gives you the run around. You also call family to help pay for meds and services as well as max out your credit cards until you can get better and get the insurance issues you’re having figured out! By this time your wife and kids are stressed out because, hardly anybody speaks English, they keep telling you how expensive the treatment will be, you’re not getting any sleep, you’re phone bill is getting pretty expensive with the international calls you’ve been making!!!
That’s pretty much close to what happened to my Dad when he and my Mom went on vacation. The solution? Protect yourself and your vacation with travel insurance. Fortunately, we realized there was a misunderstanding with the Emergency Room doctor on the travel insurance and once that was straightened out. Allianz travel insurance took care of everything from hospital bills, ambulance transportation, the $75,000 flight on the air ambulance to take my Dad back to Los Angeles and even the immigration and customs! Now, all you have to remember is the travel insurance card that you get when you buy your insurance with Allianz. One phone call and they’ll take care of everything! I mean everything! We were so relieved to find out they really got our backs. They explained what they’re going to do for my Dad from the transportation to having an ER Doctor, a nurse, a pilot and co-pilot and a family member can be on the transport (air ambulance) on the trip home.
